You do not need to know html coding or web scripting to get started. There are people that have never touched their code and making a huge amount of money online. The secret is getting WYSIWYG software for free online. Even if you want to create an online store rest assure -- most of the time there's software already built for it online and likely its free. If you want to check directories that contain pre-built web software HotScripts. If you can't find a web script for your idea you can always have it custom built at one of the freelance websites below. Now don't get me wrong, its always beneficial to learn html and web scripting languages because when you buy a WYSIWYG package it will look generic and exactly the same as other web sites that purchased the same software. So, its good to know some html and web scripting languages to make your site stand out. Sites that are well designed and load fast can generate the most revenue online.
Hand coding html is a gruelsome task so thats why they invented html editors like FrontPage and Dreamweaver which makes life alot easier. Even when using html editors you still need to know html basics. There are some very useful sites on the internet that can teach you html quickly. I recommend w3schools they have a very nice and well laid out html tutorial. Go ahead and take a look over there it will give you the basics of understanding html
Note: Yahoo has a very advanced site building application. Knowledge of html is not required to build a full html website.

OK, this is where most people hearts sink and jaws drop. Programming is not most people fortae. However, this is not a requirement because there are scripts already developed for you. But if you want to spend the least amount of money you need to learn how to program. In order to be a GREAT web master you must grasp all internet concepts, and not just the basics you must be very web savvy. I will let the web scripting tutorial explain what programming is -- it is beyond the scope of this article. Here is a list of web scripting languages, take your pick:
- PHP/MySQL - Easy to learn and very powerful web scripting language. Popular for new web masters
- ASP.NET/C# - Suited for the experienced programmer
- Ruby on Rails - Becoming very popular in the United States. Very easy to learn.
When I started meshplex I did not have to do any html editing or programming, there was a wiki script built by mediawiki thats free to use. The only thing I had to do was figure out how and where to place the adsense advertisements. Also, I paid about $20 for my logo. But if I wanted add other functionality to meshplex I'd have to do some php and html programming. Which I have not done.
I would recommend learning html first then tackle PHP/MySQL later.

Well, if you think you will never grasp the world of internet programming you can always hire someone to do it for you. People are lined up willing to take your web project for a small fee compared to your local web design company. They will take care of all programming tasks such as html design, programming, publishing, and some even offer web site administration. Online freelance companies offer this service, you can post your project to professional developers online and they will bid on your project. Some are very good at what they do and some are not. Just make sure the developer you choose has a long, consistent and positive reviews.
For a well designed website that includes 100% custom programming can easily reach over $10,000. For me, I have alot of experience developing web applications but don't have the artistic ability like some. Coding just the html portion is alot less expensive then it is coding php or Ruby. So if you have a technical mind then learn a programming language it will save you alot of money. Just pick up a good web scripting book at your local bookstore and start reading it.
